The world's most beloved and performed opera will open the 103rd Arena di Verona Opera Festival in a new production which, for the first time in the Arena's history, will bring one of the most iconic institutions of the French capital to Verona: the Moulin Rouge.
The Scot will direct it Paul Curran, today an opera director, yesterday a collaborator with Baz Luhrmann on the musical film Moulin Rouge! which celebrated its 25th anniversary since its release in cinemas in recent weeks.
An original and aesthetically striking reading that plunges the audience into early 20th-century Paris, a place of meetings and artistic and intellectual ferment, with an accurate historical reconstruction that will not forgo spectacle.
